A joyful baptism moment at Calvary Community

Baptism

Take Your Next Step

Baptism is a joyful public declaration that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ and have chosen to follow Him — an outward expression of the inward change God has begun in your life.

What Is Baptism?

A powerful picture of the Gospel.

Lowered into the water — the death and burial of the old life. Rising from the water — the new life received through Jesus Christ.

New Life

Baptism pictures our union with Christ in His death and resurrection — a new beginning in Him.

Following Jesus

Rising from the water publicly marks your decision to walk with Jesus every day forward.

Sharing Your Story

Your baptism becomes a living witness that encourages family, friends, and everyone watching.

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life."
Romans 6:4

Baptism does not earn salvation. Salvation is a gift from God received through faith in Jesus. Baptism is an act of obedience that publicly celebrates that decision.

Why Should I Be Baptized?

Three reasons rooted in Scripture.

01

Jesus Set the Example

Jesus Himself was baptized. Following Him in baptism is an important step of obedience and discipleship.

02

Jesus Commanded It

Before returning to heaven, Jesus instructed His followers to make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

03

Your Story Can Encourage Others

Baptism gives you an opportunity to publicly share that Jesus has changed your life — and encourage others considering faith.

Who Should Be Baptized?

Baptism is for anyone who has personally placed their faith in Jesus.

You do not need to have everything figured out. You do not need to be perfect. Baptism is not a celebration of perfection — it is a celebration of new life.

  • You have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior.
  • You understand that salvation comes through faith in Christ.
  • You want to publicly identify yourself as a follower of Jesus.
  • You are ready to continue growing in your faith.

What Happens During Baptism?

We will provide specific arrival times, clothing guidance, towels, changing information, and any other instructions before your baptism date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might be wondering.

Do I need to be baptized to be saved?

+

We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism does not earn salvation — it is an act of obedience that follows salvation.

What if I was baptized as a baby?

+

We honor the faith and intentions of parents who dedicated or baptized their children. Believer's baptism, however, is a personal decision made after someone has chosen to follow Jesus. A pastor would be glad to discuss this with you.

What if I am nervous about being in front of people?

+

That is completely understandable. Our team will explain everything beforehand and remain with you throughout the process. You will not be alone.

Can my family and friends attend?

+

Absolutely. We encourage you to invite the people who have supported your faith journey so they can celebrate with you.
